March 21, 2008
During the last few weeks I have been in Denmark and Luxembourg.
The first trip was with the Altnaveigh Society in Denmark where 7 of us had the opportunity to play for the Irish Ambassador at the Irish Embassy Copenhagen, the trip was really great and emphasisied the cross cultural traditions of the island of Ireland through music and song and Mrs Emer Kilcullen from the Irish Dept of Foreign Affairs was a magnificent host...
Luxembourg was another great adventure and I travelled there with Blackthorn.....The city is truly a beautiful fairytail type place with wonderful bridges and architecture and the festival was organised and brilliantly run by brothers Thom and Ray from Cafe Uran and Phil from the Irish Pub the Blackstuff...great fun!!

Armagh festival of song Award
-
December 20, 2007
On the 22nd of June, David was awarded the Armagh festival of song award for his outstanding contribution to the living song tradition in Ireland and the adding to it through new poetry and song.
The award is the brainchild of Peter Makem cousin of the legendary Tommy Makem and has been supported and nurtured by both through the years.
The song "Long Hard Night" has been covered by the well known Donegal singer Aoife Ferry and put out on world release with the Claddagh music label
I got to hear my song "Path to Peace" sung by Celtic tenor Emmanuel Lawlor who was accompanied by a 500 piece children's choir and the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and Altnaveigh House at two special events in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast and the great hall in Dublin Castle.
